Hyaluronic acid fillers Treatment Overview

What are hyaluronic acid fillers?

As we age, it's natural to notice some volume loss, fine lines, or changes in facial contours. Hyaluronic acid fillers offer a gentle, effective way to restore that youthful fullness and smoothness to your skin. These injectable hyaluronic acid gels are made from a substance naturally found in your skin that helps keep it hydrated, plump, and elastic.

By adding volume beneath the skin’s surface, hyaluronic acid fillers soften wrinkles and folds, improve facial contours, and rejuvenate areas like the cheeks, lips, and hands. Because hyaluronic acid naturally binds with your skin’s collagen and elastin, the results look beautifully natural, enhancing your features without changing who you are.

What To Expect Before Hyaluronic acid fillers

Before your hyaluronic acid filler appointment, we’ll have a friendly chat to understand what you want to achieve. Then, on the day, we apply a numbing cream for an hour to keep you comfortable throughout the treatment. The fillers are injected in a manner that will give the aesthetic improvement you're looking for,  to the area of concern.

How To Prepare for Hyaluronic acid fillers Treatment

To help make your experience as smooth as possible, here are a few tips:

  • Avoid blood-thinning meds and supplements (like aspirin or anti-inflammatories) for two weeks before your appointment to reduce bruising.
  • Avoid COVID vaccinations two weeks before and after your treatment
  • Come with a clean face, no makeup, sunscreen, or lip products on the day
  • These small steps help you get the best, most comfortable experience possible.

The entire procedure is usually quite quick, often completed within 30 to 60 minutes depending on the number of areas treated. Many clients find the experience surprisingly comfortable, with most reporting only minimal sensations thanks to the numbing cream and the skill of our team.

Hyaluronic acid fillers Aftercare

Right after treatment, you’ll spend a little time icing the area to ease any swelling or bruising. We’ll also recommend:

  • Using a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen daily and protecting treated areas from the sun
  • Avoiding alcohol and strenuous activity for the rest of the day
  • Showering as usual and gently shaving treated areas only after the skin has healed
  • You can wear makeup right away if you’d like

Most people see their best results about a month after treatment, when the fillers have fully settled into place and any swelling or bruising is long gone.

Hyaluronic acid fillers FAQs

How long do hyaluronic acid fillers last?

Most results last between 3 months and 2 years, depending on the product used and the treatment area.

How do hyaluronic acid fillers work?

Hyaluronic acid fillers gently replenish lost moisture and volume beneath your skin’s surface. Once injected, they attract and hold water, giving your skin a natural plumpness and softness. This helps smooth away fine lines and restore that youthful look. Our caring experts use precise, thoughtful techniques to ensure your results feel fresh, natural, and uniquely you.

Does the hyaluronic acid filler injection treatment hurt?

We use numbing cream, ice, and products containing a small anesthetic to keep you comfortable. Most patients report minimal discomfort.

Are there any risks?

Common side effects include mild bruising, swelling, or redness, usually resolving within a week. Serious complications are very rare and discussed during your consultation.

Can I see before and after photos?

Yes! We are happy to show you real patient results to help set your expectations

Will I need follow-up treatments?

A follow-up about a month after your initial treatment is recommended to assess results and make any adjustments.

What does hyaluronic acid filler treatment cost?

Treatment cost depends on the area and amount of filler used. Prices at Neutral Bay Laser & Dermatology Clinic generally start from $500. During your consultation our team will provide a detailed quote based on your customised plan.

What areas can hyaluronic acid fillers treat?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are versatile and can be used to enhance lips, cheeks, under-eye hollows, jawline, chin, and even hands. They’re excellent for softening fine lines and restoring volume where it’s been lost over time.

Can I combine hyaluronic acid fillers with other treatments?

Yes! Many patients combine fillers with treatments like botulinum toxin (Botox) for overall facial rejuvenation. Your practitioner will advise on the best combination for your goals.

Can hyaluronic acid fillers be reversed if I don’t like the results?

Absolutely. If you’re unhappy with the results, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which your practitioner can administer safely.

Will hyaluronic acid fillers make my skin look unnatural or “overdone”?

Our goal is natural-looking enhancements that highlight your unique beauty. We use precise techniques tailored to your facial structure to avoid an unnatural look.

Are hyaluronic acid fillers safe?

Yes, these fillers are made from a substance naturally found in your skin, making them very safe and well-tolerated. Our experienced practitioners follow strict safety protocols to minimise any risks.
