Our skin naturally changes as we age. Repeated facial expressions, sun exposure and the gradual loss of collagen can lead to lines and wrinkles, particularly across the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes.
At Neutral Bay Laser & Dermatology Clinic, care begins with a full-face assessment and a conversation about your concerns and goals. Depending on your skin, a range of options may be appropriate, from laser and energy-based skin treatments through to injectable muscle-relaxing treatments that can soften the lines created by repeated movement.
Our dermatologist, cosmetic physican or cosmetic nurse can talk through the options that may suit you, discuss the likely benefits and risks, and, if a treatment is suitable, plan it with you.
Your first visit is a consultation. We review your medical history, assess your skin and facial movement, and talk through the approaches that may suit you. If a treatment is appropriate we explain what is involved, the likely results and any downtime, so you can make an informed decision. Results and their duration vary between individuals.
Avoid non-prescription medication that may thin the blood, such as anti-inflammatories, for 2 weeks prior to treatment, as these increase risk of bruising. Do not wear make-up, including lipstick and mascara, or sunscreen on your face, the day of treatment.
Immediately after treatment, you’ll be asked to stay and ice the treated area for 10 minutes to limit the risk of bruising. It is recommended that you apply SPF50+ sunscreen before leaving the clinic and wear a hat or cover the treated area with clothing when in the sun. Make-up can be applied immediately after treatment. The treated area may be washed and shaved as normal. Alcohol and strenuous activity should be avoided for the rest of the day.
Treatments at our clinic are performed by our, cosmetic physician or experienced cosmetic nurses, with a dermatologist involved in your care.
