What are wrinkle relaxers?
Botulinum Toxin Type A injections is used to relax muscles in the face that create wrinkles. It has been used for many years on frown lines, crows feet, forehead lines and popply chins. Tiny injections, containing small amounts of product are used.
The Botulinum Toxin Type A can take 3-7 days to fully inhibit muscle movement. Results can take up to two weeks to appear. Results generally last about 3 months and the injections are safe to repeat at this time. Some patients will have lines and wrinkles that are still visible after treatment. Hyaluronic acid filler injections may be recommended to further improve these areas.
Avoid non-prescription medication that may thin the blood, such as anti-inflammatories, for 2 weeks prior to treatment, as these increase risk of bruising. Do not wear make-up, including lipstick and mascara, or sunscreen on your face, the day of treatment.
Immediately after treatment, you’ll be asked to stay and ice the treated area for 10 minutes to limit the risk of bruising. It is recommended that you apply SPF50+ sunscreen before leaving the clinic and wear a hat or cover the treated area with clothing when in the sun. Make-up can be applied immediately after treatment. The treated area may be washed and shaved as normal. Alcohol and strenuous activity should be avoided for the rest of the day.
- Smile and laugh lines are no longer visible
- Frown lines and forehead lines are reduced
- Younger, fresher, lighter look to the face

Is a review or follow-up treatment required?
